Save Passerano Park from cement and destruction!
UPDATE 25/06/2018 - VICTORY!!!!!
The arrival
of a 55-seat bus, coming from Naples, opens the new course of the farm estate
of Passerano, in Gallicano nel Lazio. A discomfort are the boys of the
"Paolo Colosimo" of Naples, the Institute for the blind and visually
impaired, in 1970, the baron Paolo Quintieri inherited, in charity, a huge
heritage of which I have 900 hectares of Passerano an important slice.
For the
first time, after 48 years, the students of the institute visited
"their" company, guided by the new director, the agronomist Aldo
Mauri who, in addition to presenting the new course, for the re-launch of
Passerano, has given an exciting journey between nature and products. "With
the boys - explains the director - we simulated the milking of the animals,
looked after the flowerbed of aromatic herbs, tasted the farm products of our
cattle and our garden giving everyone the best way to know They will also pass
under the tactile profile, olfactory, gustatory ". "It is only the
first meeting - Mauri points out - given that, for the future, we will provide,
for the 2018/2019 school year, training with the creation of food and
laboratory areas, with the creation of dishes directly in the kitchen that
previsponendo ", courses of hippotherapy, the reopening of the ancient
Colossimo laboratories for the weaving of wool and the interweaving of straw
with the supply of raw materials insured by the Estate.
The collaboration with the Colosimo Institute is only one of
the elements of a policy of relaunching Passerano which, for years in the
crosshairs of companies and of various types of speculation, returns to defend
its vocation, also thanks to the constraint affixed by the Superintendency on
the whole area, recognized of historical-cultural interest, interest, insertion
between the state property of cultural and regional interest of the Campania
Region and subjected to the protection of the protected property with the
Campania Region decree n. 19 of 21 May 2018 signed by the lawyer. Rossana
Giordano, UOD manager of the Regional State Property Office.
Stop, therefore, to the project hypothesis of a city and
other composting centers, the Tenuta di Passerano becomes a place open to all,
a tourist destination, with open-air laboratories for alternating farm paths, a
B & B with 12 short beds that can be booked online, a company store and a
tasting point for products from the land.
In addition to the Castle of Passerano, in the area there is
a long stretch of the ancient Via Prenestina, perfectly preserved, but also
sites of interest, such as the large necropolis of underground chamber tombs on
Colle Sant'Angeletto, brought back to light in 1994 and 2014 and dating between
the seventh and third centuries B.C; important remains of villas, production
plants, canalisations of the Roman age, connected by road routes, complete with
bridges, which run alongside a tomb and burial areas, cross the entire estate.
_______________________________________
The "Tenuta di Passerano" lies just a few miles east of Rome. It is one of the last perfectly preserved pieces of original Roman countryside and a highly valuable agricultural land of extraordinary beauty, host to a delicate flora and fauna system, Roman villas remains, the original antique pavement of the Via Prenestina Antica, the southern Via Francigena, bridges and aqueducts from the Roman Age and, most importantly, one of the most beautiful Italian medieval castles.
For many years the city council of Gallicano nel Lazio has made attempts to get hold of this land, trying all sorts of expedients to dispossess the community of hundreds of square miles so that it could be sold and indiscriminately built upon. Some of the worst proposals floated around recently include turning it into a giant cemetery, an enormous industrial area and more alarmingly building a biogas power plant: the latter would be a true environmental bomb that could irreversibly ravage such a precious site which is literally on the doorstep of Rome.
Not taking into account the economical and environmental damages which Passerano would suffer, it is worth noting that the Tenuta's borders touch the easternmost areas of Rome, and that any hint of further building would certainly progressively transform this wonderful virgin land into one more run-down suburb which, unfortunately, are already abundant in the Roman outskirts.
It is easy to imagine the great number of speculators and complacent authorities which would gladly profit from the urbanization of such a big area close to the capital.
We have to block this abomination.
We have to block the uncontrolled expansion of "Roma Capitale".
We have to block the speculation, the uncontrolled urbanization of the Roman Countryside and the waste of agricultural land.
We have to defend and promote the beauty, the history and the nature of the "Tenuta Agricola di Passerano"!!
